TIP #46-EMBRACE, BE PROUD OF, THEN LAUGH AT YOUR INNER FOODIE

Shit Foodies Say from Louder Than 11 on Vimeo.

You may not be an extreme “foodie”, but if you’ve taken charge of your diet at all with healthier eating, then you probably can appreciate this video poking fun at those of us that care about what goes into our bodies. Remember-Laughter is the best medicine for what ails you sometimes! (Just a small amount of offensive language to follow.)

From Jill Lawson for DietsInReview.com…

“Beginning with the simple question, “Can you pass me that blanket?”, the viral video “S*it Girls Say” has now spawned several knock-offs and replications. “S*it Brides Say,” “S*it Yogis Say,” and now “S*it Foodies Say,” are just a few of the hilarious sequels circulating through your Facebook newsfeed.

Much like “S*it Girls Say,” each video is a compilation of one-liners that girls, brides, yogis, foodies and other target populaces can relate with one way or another. However silly, benign or insignificant, these videos will have you rolling on the floor laughing as you might be reminded of the stuff you catch yourself saying. While some have felt offended by them, most of us are delighted to have a chuckle or two that breaks up the monotony of our day.

It is no surprise that in “Sh*t Foodies Say” the frequently used catchphrase is “Meet you at Whole Foods.” Our fearless foodie questions everything she eats, following almost every statement with something about her love of Whole Foods. She dutifully examines the bread, the cookie, the smoothie, the mayonnaise, always inquiring if it’s local, vegan and gluten or dairy free.

That doesn’t sound so funny – we all should all be asking questions about what is in our food and where it comes from. But pining for a year-round farmers market, pontificating defiantly that she herself actually grows her own, and eats only what cavemen ate escalates the humor just a touch, because we have all crossed paths with someone so radically obsessed with what they put into their body.

Could this video hit a nerve with some people? Probably not, unless you support mass production farms and companies who alter seeds, participate in bioengineered plant breeding, and utilize nasty chemicals to double crop yield and disregard the small farmer. “Monsanto totally sucks, and ‘OMG’ GMOs are totally ruining our food,” says the foodie while standing in the aisle of Whole Foods Market. Monsanto, genetically modified organisms, and high fructose corn syrup topped the list of this foodie’s nemeses, as perhaps with many real foodies nationwide.

So does this video put you in a tofu or a tempeh mood? Any chance you will put your dog on a gluten-free diet? Want to meet me at Whole Foods? Because I love Whole Foods!”
